Cousin Crusade in Colorado

We bought plane tickets in June for an overdue visit to see the Colorado Austins.  Before we knew it, November was here, and we were there! Our first fun excursion was to the science museum in Denver. Maggie was particularly pumped because she had just read a book on mummies that had noted the nice collection of animal mummies on display in this very museum. They had a pretty awesome whale exhibit going on, too.

We also got to meet Carmel and Smokey, Macey and Mallory's pet guinea pigs.

Libby and Mallo went out for a prairie dog hunt. Those critters are pretty darn fast, and they don't come out when you poke sticks in their holes, either.

Cousins acting crazy in their Christmas pajamas.

Reading a story with Uncle Chris
Paige was able to round up enough bikes from the neighbors so that we could all bike into downtown Louisville to hit an old school arcade called Tilt and then get some ice cream at the Sweet Cow. We stopped at one of their awesome parks. It has a great playground and an awesome little mountain bike terrain to zip around.

One night we made pizzas...we need that recipe, Uncle Chris!!
Macey's into making and editing videos, the pizza short was just as good as the dinner!
We hit one of their great community centers and spent the morning at the pool. Mallo was kind enough to model and share their cool mermaid tail.

Macey's flippin out!

Playground fun

We also went out for a fun Italian dinner, with a surprise for the soon to be birthday girl.

She got some great presents from her cousins and got a sundae that was bigger than her head. Look at the size of that spoon!

We squeezed in as most fun as possible, and had an amazing visit with our family! The girls played so well together and the weather was perfect (we got to see some snow- and got outta there just in time!) Thank you so much for such a great trip, Uncle Chris, Auntie Paige, Macey, and Mallory!!!

Big 5!

Guess who's five?!?!? (2 months ago, but who's counting?) This girl couldn't be any sweeter, and she's growing up so fast...kindergarten registration starts next week!?!? Before we know it, she will be making weird faces and trying to play it cool like a seven year old.
Met TT and Sloan (Uncle Jerome, too!) In Asheboro at the NC Zoo.

In all her birthday glory: crown, new cat dress, cat purse, and a creeper in hand.

Opening some fun presents from Gamma and Grandfather.

The pink cheetah birthday cake

Happy Birthday, birthday girl! We sure do love you!!
She also took cat cookies into school to share with her friends.

Emerald Isle 2014

We've been lucky enough to stay at the Little Blue Heron at Emerald Isle the last couple of years.  We like to go in late September or early October when the crowds are long gone, but the sun is still shining and the ocean is still warm(ish).
We swam a little, dug for sand crabs,  and got in  a little surf fishing.  Rob caught a real whopper this time!  A beautiful red drum that we took back to Apex and grilled up when we got back.

Libby caught a little gecko thing. His fate was more promising than the fish.

Somehow, the newest holiday Beanie Boos tend to find their way to the twin beds just as we arrive.

A Very Merpy Hallothanksmus Eve!

Uncle Donald bought a plane ticket from SFO to RDU and the next thing you know, it's a party...Cheney style.  Every Cheney on the East Coast gathered in Apex for what will forever be known as the first annual celebration of all holidays from October to January, brilliantly dubbed "Merpy Hallothanksmus Eve".
We started off with a birthday celebration for TT, complete with cake and ice cream, of course.

The nerds literate cousins took a break to hang out in GB's famous library/garage.
We even hit the amazing Apex High School Homecoming parade in historic downtown Apex.

After that, it was time to dress up and trick or treat around Grandma and GB's house.

(I think that's right..somebody correct me if I'm off)

We continued Saturday morning with "normal" October/Fall activities. We went to the pumpkin patch and cruised the corn maze, hit the hay ride, and had all kinds of fun.

Then, a few of us napped, and several of us celebrated Oktoberfest at the Austin's pool parking lot.  Beer, bounce houses, and other shenanigans, all while Grandma was whipping up a Thanksgiving Feast!  Not just turkey and mashed potatoes, either.  She had everyone's favorite, from homemade noodles to baked apples to the world's greatest cranberry sauce.  Let's just say that Jan Cheney sets the bar as high as it can go when it comes to being a mom and grandma and throwing a freaking awesome SURPRISE Merpy Hallothanksmus Eve!

And then, the Austins and Cheneys South come over for what we thought was just breakfast on Sunday morning, and what the what?!?!?!  Santa has been here, put up the tree, and left a present for EVERYONE!

We couldn't ask for a better family get together, but again, that kinda happens when all the best get together!
PS- Next time Donald's bringing Helen, and we're throwing in Chinese New Year!  We missed you, Helen!!!!
